Regent Park is an old community in the downtown east area of Toronto. The Regent Park Revitalization Plan is an initiative that is rebuilding the neighborhood for 12,500 residents over 5 years. It aims to change a solely social housing development into a self-sufficient, mixed-income, multi-use community.
On Saturday, June 21st at 2 pm, a parade was held to celebrate the opening of a new 6 acre park including a playground, splash pad, multi-purpose green space, plaza for community events, dog off- leash area, community gardens, greenhouse, bake ovens, walkways and lush landscaping.
The Tian Guo Marching Band was invited to attend the event. Prior to the parade, many residents watched the band practice and praised the performance. During the parade, audience members smiled excitedly, clapped, took photos and congratulated band members.
