On Sunday, August 14, 2022, a week long festival celebrating Philippine Independence Day kicked off in Nathan Phillips Square. The celebration included on stage performances, food, clothing, artifacts, jewellery booths and a parade. 

The Tian Guo Marching Band was invited to do a stage performance and then led the parade through the downtown core. Audience members gave the band a warm welcome and many Filippino community members expressed their appreciation of the band's performance.
