Mabuhay Philippines Festival, Toronto

Mabuhay Philippines Festival, Toronto, August 19, 2007

The Philippine Independence Day Council of Toronto (PIDC) organized the 7th annual Mabuhay Philippines Toronto Festival (http://www.pidctoronto.com/). This year, it ran from August 17-19 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. The event featured 150 booths and all day entertainment celebrating Filipino arts, culture and heritage.

The celebration commends the immeasurable contributions of Filipinos to Canada. It is meant to unite the community by providing a platform showing the strength and influence of the fourth largest minority group in the country.

PIDC invited the Tian Guo Marching Band of Canada to join the Mabuhay Parade on August 19, 2007. Over 100 band members marched for over 2 hours in the downtown core. The streets were lined with spectators, who joyously applauded the performance. Many people clapped enthusiastically, and cameras, video recorders and cell phone cameras were operating throughout the entire parade.

The event organizer appeared very excited while watching the band, and continuously offered his appreciation for their attendance.
