Taiwan National Day Parade, Toronto, October 5, 2008

The Republic of China, the 1st republic of Asia, was founded officially on January 1, 1912. On October 5, the 97th National Day of the Republic of China (Taiwan) was celebrated in downtown Toronto.

The celebration included singing of the national anthems of Canada and Taiwan, speeches from various dignitaries, entertainment and a parade.

This is the 3rd year in a row that the Tian Guo Marching Band of Canada was invited to attend and the 1st time that the band members wore their newly designed uniforms in Toronto. The outfits originated from ancient Chinese attire.

The band marched in the parade to the delight of the audience on route. Many people laughed, clapped, took photos and seemed pleased with the performance.
